5 Fun Mindful Activities to try this Halloween

Don’t let the scary feeling of Halloween overwhelm you! We’re here to help with the Halloween season overload by giving you the Top 5 Ways to engage mindfully with your child this Halloween.

1. Colouring

As simple as it seems, colouring is a great mindfulness exercise for your child. Mindful colouring is about bringing our awareness into the present moment by consciously focusing on colour and design. This process is similar to meditation, we let go of any thoughts that may be racing in our minds, and allows us to be in the present moment. It is also a great stress reliever! Start with this fun pumpkin colouring exercise or this fall themed colouring sheet together and see how you can connect mindfully.

2. Mindful Movement

Here is an obvious one, yoga sessions together. Take ten to twenty minutes together to do a few Halloween yoga poses. This can be fun and mindful; we are sure your kids will be happy to show you all the poses they have learned with us.  Don’t forget to join the Halloween themed class at Jill Yoga on October 30th at Hillcrest Mall.

3. Carve out a pumpkin

The best part of this activity is everyone in the family can join! You can decide on the size of the pumpkin, design and who gets to carve it out (always have an adult present). Don’t forget to save the pumpkin seeds for later, as they make for a great and tasty snack!  

4. Breathing exercises (spooky edition)

Teaching your children how to breathe mindfully can provide so many benefits for their future! It will teach them to relax their body and their mind, it increases the body's oxygen levels, which can have a calming effect for the mind and body. 5. DIY Halloween crafts
