We recommend that children start yoga at 2 years old, however we do teach students as young as 18 months old in our daycare program. 2 is a great age as the child will be able to start practicing skills like balance and coordination, while also learning about how their bodies move.
Is your program religious? Do you use Sanskrit or chanting in your classes?
Our program is a non-traditional yoga program.
Our classes will not look like a yoga class held at an adult yoga studio.
Our classes are FUN, active, engaging with all of the benefits that yoga provides. Our curriculum was designed by Ontario Certified Teachers and Registered Children's Yoga Instructors with children in mind. We realize that children want to be Active, playful and have FUN. That is why we designed our classes to include props, music and games that teach yoga & mindfulness in a playful way.
I have a boy, will they like doing yoga? Or will they think it's too boring?
We get this question a lot! Yoga is NOT just for girls. Because our program is active and fun, both boys and girls can enjoy it. When it comes to our older male students (all boys schools) we focus on things like strength, endurance and flexibility to improve athletic performance. We include activities like balance challenges that test their skills. Trust me, your boy(s) will love yoga.
Do you offer a Children's Yoga Certification?
Yes we currently have an 18 hour Kids Yoga Certification program that is free for our franchisees and our instructors. You can find the certification here: www.littleyogisacademy.thinkific.com
I want to host a yoga camp, but I don't have a big enough backyard. What do I do?
Don't fret, we can still make it work. We often host groups at a nearby park instead.
I would love to get my child started in yoga! What is the best way to start?
We are so happy you want to get your child started in yoga. The best way to start is by practicing at home with them. You can use flash cards to demonstrate poses or do a family yoga class together in your home. They can also attend one of our virtual classes or gather a group of kids in your neighbourhood and get them started with our yoga camps.
I would love my child to participate in your yoga camp, but I don't have a group of 5 kids. Can we join another?
Absolutely! Simply email us and let us know where you are located. If we have a group in session you can join them. Email us at info@littleyogisacademy.com
I am a student and I would love to volunteer and work with your team for experience. Do you offer internships?
We do allow passionate students looking to start a career in children's yoga to learn from our experienced teachers. Email us at info@littleyogisacademy.com and we can set up an interview to meet you.
I'd like to bring your program to my school. How do I do that?
Typically we work with the parent council of the school OR the principal directly. If you'd like to see our program run at your school, recommend us, then send our contact information for them to get in touch. info@littleyogisacademy.com
What is your refund policy?
Cancellations must be made by the Friday prior to the first class for a refund less the administration fee ($15). After this date NO REFUNDS can be made. The Behavior Code will be strictly enforced. If a child is asked to sit out with the supervisor more than twice, he/she will not be allowed to continue in that course for the remainder of the session. Reimbursement will not be made should this happen.
How Can I Introduce Little Yogis Academy programs to my school or childcare?
We are so glad you asked! Please contact us at info@littleyogisacademy.com and we will provide you with the necessary information to proceed with booking a Little Yogis program at your School or childcare.
Can I bring my child to try a class?
The answer is Yes! If you have never been to a Little Yogis class, then this is an excellent opportunity for both you and your child to experience kids yoga. You can register into a trial class by emailing us with the location and time and we will ensure the instructor is notified. If you are registering through a community centre that takes their own registrations, you will need to contact them directly to check their policy.
Does Little Yogis accommodate children with additional needs?
Yes we do! We developed a special curriculum with the support of the University of Toronto to ensure our classes are inclusive. We work with many autism programs, and special needs schools to support their wellness needs. If you are joining a community program, we welcome discussing your child’s needs so we can empower our instructors to best support your child.
Can I make up a class if I miss one?
Sorry! We do not offer make-up classes.
What are the instructors qualifications, experience and training?
Our instructors are a professional group of educators who bring a variety of unique skills & life experiences to their roles at Little Yogis Academy. They have certifications in yoga supported by Yoga Alliance, and many of them are certified teachers or early childhood educators seeking alternate work. They are all passionate about teaching children the tools and philosophy of yoga to empower them to live their lives to the fullest. Little Yogis has its very own unique teacher certification program that is mandatory once hired. After completing our mentorship program, instructors continue to participate in workshops, skill updates and evaluations throughout the year.
I am looking to enroll my child in one of your programs, but you don’t offer it in my area
