Honoring the Roots of Yoga & Mindfulness

At Little Yogis Academy, we embrace the essence of yoga and mindfulness while honoring their deep-rooted traditions. Our program is designed with a secular approach, catering to children from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. We firmly believe that understanding the origins and history of yoga is crucial in teaching its principles to young minds. Although our program is secular in nature, we are well aware of the rich heritage and wisdom behind this ancient practice. By incorporating the essence of traditional yoga and mindfulness, we strive to instill in children a sense of respect for the origins and cultural significance of these practices. Through age-appropriate activities and teachings, we offer a gateway for children to explore and experience the transformative benefits of yoga and mindfulness. At Little Yogis Academy, we foster an environment that encourages curiosity and appreciation for different cultures, ensuring that the roots of yoga and mindfulness are cherished and upheld. Our dedicated instructors are well-versed in the historical context and philosophy of yoga, and they impart this knowledge with reverence, authenticity, and mindfulness.

Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we teach at Little Yogis Academy is the traditional territory of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who have been the stewards of this land for centuries. We recognize and honor the deep connection that Indigenous Peoples have with this land, their rich history, and the wisdom they have shared with us. We acknowledge the enduring presence, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous communities, both past and present. We are grateful for the opportunity to teach and learn on this land and are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment that acknowledges the rights, perspectives, and teachings of Indigenous Peoples. We strive to educate our little yogis about the importance of reconciliation, cultural diversity, and understanding the significance of the land we all share. As we engage in the practice of yoga and mindfulness, we encourage our community to join us in acknowledging and respecting the Indigenous Peoples of this land. Together, let us continue to cultivate a sense of unity, reverence, and gratitude for the land and its original caretakers.
